Sup! I'm Ben - a simple man and self-proclaimed powderhound. In September 2020, I drew a logo in the dirt in the heart of Jackson Hole, and started what would become the brand Superior.
Why do I do this? I've always been obsessed with winter, but in 2014 I was involved in a night skiing accident.
I was hit at ~40mph by an out-of-control skier coming downhill at Blue Mountain Resort, PA. A double eject and a quick "Sorry, didn't see you there!" shifted the path of my life.
The injury (dislocated shoulder), and resulting surgery derailed my athletics career; and is something that I still deal with to this day - on & off the mountain.
Simply put - if this person had a pair of Superior’s, I would have never been hit.
For me, Superior is a commitment to building an iconic, real brand with people and products live up to its name.
Andrew Deutsch - GM + Snowcat Operator
Dutch is a jack-of-all-trades, master of none, except slope grooming. In the winter he operates a Snowcat and creates the finest corduroy in the west at Alta Ski Area, (when possible).
Andrew generally works with me on product design, shipping, strategy and other core business needs.
We grew up skiing/riding ice at Blue Mountain together.
Sam Konings - Athlete + Community Manager
I met Sam by random chance on Day 1 of the deepest winter on record (one of few others to snowboard at Alta with just 2 feet of base 🤣). Sam ski tours and splitboards all over the west, and joined the team after capping his season with a first-time solo ascent of Superior in early May '23.
Since then, Sam has worked to recruit some of our most talented athletes, ambassadors, and establish some of our core brand relationships.
As an athlete, Sam has summited every Fourteener in the lower 48 states. He regularly rides 111+ days per winter.
